Review of the film: "Anonymous" (2011)
Director: Roland Emmerich
Genre: thriller, drama
Lead actors: Rhys Ifans, Vanessa Redgrave, Rafe Spall, Edward HoggRelease year: 2011
Country: United Kingdom, Germany
Running time: 130 min

Plot:

I could hardly remember all the moments of the film as I've watched it about 2 years ago. So, the film explores the possibility of William Shakespeare's works as in fact written by Edward de Vere.
The haphazard flashbacks puzzled me at times and the plot seemed to be entangled because of it. That film is really intrigued me by the idea that Shakespear did not write the plays himself and after watching this film the question is still open for me.

Edie Sedgwick was born in a wealthy and socially prominent family, and she grew up with beauty and money, but also there is a history of mental illness. She was hospitalized with an eating disorder in her late teens, and by the time she was 21, two of her seven siblings had died before their time. In 1964, Edie moved to New York City, and quickly made a splash on the Manhattan social scene; she became friendly with the famous pop artist Andy Warhol, who was fascinated by her gamine loveliness and her quirky personality. Warhol wasted no time in casting her in one of his underground movies, and she quickly became a crucial part of his retinue of "superstars." Fashion icon Diana Vreeland was convinced Edie had the looks and charm to also become a successful model, and soon she was gracing the pages of Life, Vogue, and Glamour. But Edie's instability was hardly helped by her new fast-lane lifestyle, and when she met Billy Quinn, a folk rock singer-songwriter often cited as "the voice of a generation," he persuaded her that Warhol and his associates were simply using her fame and beauty for their own gain, and she found herself torn between two powerful mentors, one of whom had become her lover as well. Factory Girl also co-stars Jimmy Fallon, Mena Suvari, and Tara Summers as regulars at the Warhol "Factory." The character of Musician was inspired in part by Bob Dylan, who was romantically involved with Edie Sedgwick for a brief time.

Hamlet, Stratford-upon-Avon

the Guardian, Saturday 16 March, 2013

A summer season which also includes Maria Aberg's revival of As You Like It, and Nancy Meckler's take on All's Well That Ends Well, begins with Jonathan Slinger in David Farr's production of Hamlet. Slinger has been the RSC's best find of the last few years, having already glittered brightly in Twelfth Night, The Tempest and as Richards II and III. He'll make a thrilling Hamlet, trying to come to terms with his grief at the murder of his father and stay honest in a world built on deceit. The great cast includes Greg Hicks, Charlotte Cornwell and Nicolas Tennant, but it should be Slinger's take on the "sweet prince" which keeps us enthralled.

Summary (1). Individual Reading. Somerset Moem: "The Moon and Sixpence".

I have read the first 6 chapters from this book, where the narrator tells us how, where and when he met  Charles Strickland. One day the author recieved an invitation for breakfast from Strikland's wife. She always invited writers to her house as she thought they were extraodinary people. Strikland was quite foreign to the literature and his wife described him as a very boring person. And it was really so. He left the impression of
" a good-natured, dull, honest, ordinary guy. Some of his qualities, can be, and should be commended, but try to communicate with him was impossible. He was zero."
